Glass Cages ?

I am looking for a 150g glass tank 60x24x24 reef ready, it is no longer a standard size tank , the only companies that I found are Glass Cages and Aquariums for you.
Glass Cages have very good price on the tank and also shipping I was going to order the tank till I saw the reviews, are they really that bad
I can't find anything about Aquariums for you , are they new ?
anyone bought a tank from them?
Thanks!

I don't see any new reviews about them, I just can't see how they do business like that and stay in businness.

I ordered a 150 that is 48x24x31. I love it. The silicone was a little sloppy but the tank itself is built like a tank. the silicone didn't matter to me because the canopy covered it.

I have one in by basement 8foot long, 200 gallon.

I'll have to second the 'built like a tank' comment......it took four of us to move it, and we barely carried it.

The stand they made for it was very nice as well.

I believe that Oceanic makes a reef-ready 156 gal (60x24x25) tank.

I am very interested in this tank size as well so I am going to tag along to see who makes them. I'm gonna look into Oceanic.

BTW, I also had a unfavorable experience with GC. I cannot attest to their product quality as my dealings with them did not make it that far.
just my two cents,
Rafael

I had it shipped to a LFS that was ordering about 100 glass cages tanks for their display. I've only had it for about 4-5 months, but it's built like a tank. It's a custom 190, low iron front pane. Every part of the transaction was smooth. I really can't see how people have had problems, not that I doubt that they did, but they were very nice and thorough with me...

I've a 50 gallon acrylic tank for a sump. It's not pretty, but it holds water, and it was Paris Hilton cheap. Maybe even Paris Super 8 cheap.

What do you think about their warranty, it is only 3 for three months and it is only good if you use their stand . or if it was made by a certified carpenter that makes stands.

My LFS checked with Oceanic they said they no longer make that size tank.

Sea-Nut -

Thanks, I am considering a 156 gal and was leaning towards the Oceanic. I'll check into it further. Interestingly, the Oceanic website still lists a 156 gal, at least in the"ultimate" configuration and a brochure I picked up from my LFS a few months ago lists the 156 gal. However, given the changes at Oceanic/AGA - however, they are connected now - who knows?

I have had a GC tank set up for about 4 years now and have had NO complaints. There are several other in the area that also have them and most all are very happy with them. As far as the Warranty, really, if a tank isn't right, it will show right away once you fill it, usually. If you stand torques it it will leak or break at some point but that would be the stand, not a warranty tank situation (hence the stand vs warr thing). Anyway I would highly recommend GC tanks to anyone. Great, solid tanks and nice folks to deal with.

I've heard some good things about miracles in glass, but have no experiences with them myself. They do lots of custom work as well as have standard sizes. Web doesn't list prices.

I own a GC tank and I'm perfectly satisfied with the tank and its build quality. I read a TON of threads on GC before I decided to order from them and I will offer a couple of suggestions that seem to be the biggest issues when dealing with GC.

#1 - Order a tank with out overflow or drilled holes. This seems to be the biggest problem area. Drilling a tank or building an overflow exactly like you want it takes minimal time and a few basic tools that are very inexpensive. Don't chance it and do it yourself.

#2 - Inspect your tank VERY CLOSELY when you get it off the truck. Unwrap it completely and look at every seam, joint and corner. If you find a flaw at that point you'll have no trouble getting a refund / new tank. Take possession of the tank then find a flaw and you're going to be in for a fight.

#3 - Call to order your tank, ask for order confirmation (order number) and know how you want it shipped before you order (show or truck pickup). Get the name of who took your order and take some notes on when you ordered it. Probably a good idea to ask them to repeat your request at the end as well.

I think if you follow those guidelines you won't have any issues with GC. Should you have to take these extra steps when ordering from a vendor....that's an entirely different discussion, but I know they offer a good product at a good price which was enough to get my business.

Hey Etrigo,

Where did you get that quote? Do you ask your lfs or directly to Oceanic?

I got it directly from my lfs, but it was all of them in the Kansas City area. The sale is directly from the distributer, and I would assume that meant all the Midwest since i highly doubt that a single distributer covers just Kansas City
