Focusing ring for Koralias

In case anyone is interested, when I was at Phishy's recently, I noticed that the new Koralias have a focusing ring that snaps onto the shroud surrounding the prop. It supposedly allows for a more focused flow, more like a MJ1200.

You can call Hydor and they will send them to you for free. 916-920-5222

Well, they're still better than a modded MJ1200.

they are focusing rings? or they are more like the snail guards that come with it?

It's a ring that clips onto the front of the shroud. It allows for the flow to be directed towards the front of the Koralia.

Assuming this picture works, here's a picture of it from marinedepot.com

I haven't received mine yet. I was going to play around with them and see if they are of benefit in my tank.

I thought it acted more as a snail/fish guard. I had a small blue hippo tang get into my 4 during feeding once. Didn't notice and turned the powerheads back on.....

Beleive it or not he's still alive and kicking. (Whew!!) I don't know how I got that lucky. Doesn't even have a mark on him and the power head was on for like 5 minutes before I noticed.

Yeah, I believe they were designed more as a guard/focus ring, it does keep things out a little better, and focus the flow somewhat, I have them on two of mine but I think I lost them off the others, I had a couple that came off as well.
