Scorched my eyes!

So yesterday after working on my hood for a few minutes with the halide on with no UV shield, I burned my eyes pretty badly. Last night it started to hurt really bad and I just got back from the eye doctor. Just a reminder that I'm sure most of you already know, but be careful with those halides!! The pain was really really bad for a few hours from just a few minutes of exposure to my measly 70 watt bulb...

Ya I am guessing this is a DE bulb. The SE bulbs have a protectice glass that blocks some of the UV light.

UGH welding burns I get flashed all day long I guess that is why my halides dont bother me. I burned them really bad when I was younger and have never had that problem since. But I have a nice tan in the winter.

I used 'flash burn' from tacking steel all morning with a mig welder as an excuse to take the afternoon off in the mid 80's and run up to Shattered Records in Cleveland to meet Queensryche. They were warming up for KISS that night at the old Richfield Colesium supporting their first full album release. Got autographs and some cool pics. Even got one standing with Chris DeGarmo.

What stunk is on the way home my eyes started really burning, and were terribly bloodshot for the next couple days. Hope it doesn't last too long for ya. I know its no fun at all.
