Aquapod or Nanocube

I want to get an all in one nano. What would be the best one to pick. I want a 12g, and is there any other brands that I should look at?

Yes...I just purchased an aquapod 12 gallon nano.

Specifications:
~ 70 watt MH 14k bulb
~ 3 blue LED's
~ 3 white LED's.

Simply awesome. The light transmitted from the bulb is an powerful blue that should be a great addition to your home.

The kicker: Total Package = $179.99. (Current discontinued this product). Purchased my unit from Dr. Foster Smith.

I went with the nanocube.

-Didn't want to top off all the time like you will with the MH aquapod
-Wanted the sleek all in one look, not a big bulky light on top
-JBJ has a MUCH overall nicer fit and finish than current.

Hey ZMA21, I have BOTH the the JBJ Nano Cube and the Current Aquapod. I got the JBJ first and 2 weeks later I got the Current AqupPod. Well the JBJ is siting in my garage. The AquaPod is a way better tank. I will never buy any thing from JBJ again. JBJ has no QUALITY. As for the top off the tank comes with a GLASS TOP, i don't top off my tank at all. Hey crossi92 you will want the MH Lighting, As for you ZMA21 don't comment on some thing YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT. As you can see in this picture I'm usein the JBJ stand which suck's.

Congratulations on the ignorance, racksteris.

I also have an aquapod in my house, it is my mom's clownfish tank. I also did a lot of research into both aquariums before i bought it.

I'm glad you have your opinion. I also have one. The difference is i try to hide my bias.

14 gallon Biocube!! I really like mine... i used to have a 12 gal. Nanocube by JBJ. I like the biocube tons better and oceanic's customer service is second to none. Have you thought about a Biocube?

And yes racksteris...it is JBJ not JBL....unless you are keeping fish in audio equipment...

1) I would never run complete closed glass top- so there would be a need for top off

2) Your picture answers my statement

3)IN MY OPINION, the nanocube is cleaner than the aquapod (seals, back chambers)

I'm not here to explain myself to you, just trying to help the OP.

Drop it, if you have any more problems, my pm box is empty.

Forgot about the biocube.

Oceanic really makes some good stuff. I would have bought the biocube if it weren't for the extreme deal i got the nanocube for.

i'll pay shipping if you want to send me your jbj...

as for the difference of opinion, i shopped nano's myself because i downgraded. this little jbj is a nice tank and i see no reason why anyone would bash it unless it's just because.

the aquapod isnt as deep from front to back so it's less cube-ish and that matters to me. also, no offense but look at that light on top of the aquapod. are you kidding me? that looks "GOOD"????

no thanks for me, why have a light that's ugly and round on top of a sleek tank?

as for biocube, if you want a 12 or so gallon tank i'd take that any day. if you want something a LITTLE bigger but not so big it takes up too much space i like the 24 JBJ over the 29 biocube. yes, those few extra inches mattered in my choice. but i did like the biocube.

Didn't want to stir up a fight here..lol

I just started looking at the biocube also. That's definitely an option.

I don't want anything bigger than 12-14g, that's why I have a 90 in the work's. I don't want the halide either, it will be just a softie tank (again the whole 90 thing).

Now, no more bickering please, I just want to know the pro's and con's of the one that you own yourself.

The surface skimming on the aquapod sounds like a plus, do the nanocube or biocube have anything like that. Also what are the compartments like on the different ones?

Looks like the biocube has surface skimming, I also like that Oceanic makes a protein skimmer to fit into one of the compartments. Has anyone used it?

nano cube has the cheapest surface skimmer in the world... and it works!!! i was shocked when i set mine up but i have absolutely no surface film.

and, i wasnt fighting... just pointing out the sleek tank with the lumpy light look... oxymoron to me.

My vote is for the biocube 14. Oceanic makes really nice stuff and their customer service is excellent. I love my biocube and have had no problems so far. Also, I had a JBJ nanocube and it was so poorly made , the biocube makes it look like a toy. However, if I could still get that halide deal with the aquapod I would...

To me, the halides on those look horrible. That is not what I am looking for. Just a nice clean look, and functional. Again, softies only and maybe a fish or two.

And the fighting coment was not towards you, that was for the first couple posts.

I apologize, crossi.

I should have been more focused on helping a fellow reefer along rather than waste posts with a biased member.

Yes, the nanocube has a surface skimmer, and it works quite well.

That is the exact deal i got. The aquapod deal with the MH light for $170 is now over.

man, i don't know why people don't like the Eclipse system 12's. i have one and its great. the acrylic is super clear, all sides are open for viewing which is perfect for my situation, and the filter system works fine, i've had no problems at all with water params or algae with 2 gallon weekly changes and weekly filter changes. i use crushed coral substrate which i think helps with buffering and also allows a huge amount of pods to grow. and it is a true 12 gallon unlike the others that are like 9 gallons for the viewing area.

I looked at the Eclipse but not as functional as the others. I really like the compartments in the back of the others for hiding a protein skimmer and setting up a fuge. An Eclipse would be fine for fish only, but I don't think it's meant to do what I want.

If you rule out the halide on the aquapod I vote biocube. It's a really well made tank...
