Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room.
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

When I was 9-10, this was my piano recital song.

For almost a year, I played this song 3-4X a day. For the recital I added my own personal flair to it.

Luckily, no singing was involved.

Song - King of the road

Trailer for sale or rent
Rooms to let...fifty cents.
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but..two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

Third boxcar, midnight train
Destination...Bangor, Maine.
Old worn out clothes and shoes,
I don't pay no union dues,
I smoke old stogies I have found
Short, but not too big around
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

I know every engineer on every train
All of their children, and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked
When no one's around.

I sing,
Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

Roger Miller played the WE Fest here in DL several years ago. WE Fest is a large outdoor country music festival attended by 165,000 people.

He sat alone on the stage with a stool and a guitar and proceeded to mesmerize the crowd of 55,000 for 90 minutes. He had every single person in the audience in the palm of his hand. I was working EMS at the event and paused a few minutes to watch him from backstage. I couldn't pull myself away and wound up watching the entire performance.

I'd always thought of Roger Miller as a bit of a clown, but people at subsequent festivals still talk about his incredible set. He was a supremely talented musician (and I basically HATE country music.)

If you watch the youtube clip, you can see they tried to change his image in 1969 to go after the younger crowd.
