just got a quote on a 225g, how does it look?

I'm shopping around on a tank, and so far (outside of glasscages, which I've ruled out), Miracles in Glass has the best quote. Does this seem like it will be a good setup?

225g (60x36x24)
all edges machine polished
5/8" tempered bottom with 3 holes
5/8" back
1/2" end
1/2" starphire front and end
U-shape overflow
4-1/2" eurobrace all around, notched where overflow is located to allow access into overflow
metal stand 60" x 36" x 36" high (1-1/2" tubing)
shipping included
$ 2924.00

I'm also talking to A.G.E. and Aquariums for You, but their quotes are coming in a bit higher. I know A.G.E. is top quality, and I don't want a leaker, do people think this Miracles quote is good. They are an RC sponsor, so I'm guessing that means something...

quote looks good to me, why temper the bottom? doesn't leave an option for drilling more holes if needed down the road. also, why only 3 holes? I really like AGE's option of a pvc bottom, lots of flexibility without the worry of breakage during drilling.

Having just received my AGE tank, I wouldn't consider another company personally. It replaced a LeeMar which I rate along the same quality (maybe a bit lower than Miracles) and it isn't even close. That being said, for >$3k for tank and stand, that is one killer price. IMO all the sponsorship means is that they paid money for ad space. RC doesn't endorse the products in anyway. What does your budget allow? Miracles make a nice tank. AGE makes a beautiful tank.

Bottom line is, the choice one only you can make.

A word of advice, you may want to check where you plan to place the tank and be sure you have a door wider that three feet to enter. I did the same thing with my stand and had to pull out a window to get the thing in the house. You could just make the stand 34" high and that solves the problem.

That is a good price, especially considering shipping and the stand is included. You'll only need wider than 24" to get the tank in if you turn it on its side. A.G.E. prices will vary a little depending on who your talking to them through, since different shops will mark up the price more than others.

How heavy are the stands? I think I have clearance over the wall...hard to describe but its a partial wall in a loft-type condo, so I will use a ladder to lift it over the wall.

I would swap the tempered bottom for 3/4" regular glass and the same with the back panel.

Does Elos make a 5'x3' tank? And does that include the stand and shipping? Also do you know if they offer external overflow? Just got the price and it is only 175 to do the overflow external, so I'll definitely be doing that.

Uh, 36X36" still requires a doorway greater than 36" no matter which way you turn it! The height of the tank is 24" and makes no difference.

I understand not going with tempered so you can drill later, but does that mean I need to go 3/4" for strength?

Got it, I think he thought you were talking bout the tank. I would definitely prefer it as high as I can get it, so Ill measure and see what fits over the wall.

They are heavy, but not more than 4 people would be needed to hoist it over a wall.

I might also see if they can make 2 18 that could be pushed together, dont see any reason why that would be less stable.
