Hair Algae Why ?

Hello all , I swapped my tank a few weeks ago and it crashed It is now stable but I am starting to get hair algae and some red slime
My phospates are at .35 BUT have came down from 1.5 in 3 months

3 reasons why algae grows.
1)Too much light.
2)Nitrates High
3)Phosphates High

I swaped taks so it may have spiked but it is lower now then in the past
The lighting has not changed
last 3 months

red algae is probably normal for a while in the beginning....you could always get a small UV sterilizer...that might help prevent some of the new growth

Just give it some time. I found that in my reef tank I only started to stunt hair algae's growth when my nitrates were undetectable and so too my phosphates. Before then they would grow like crazy.

so there is no way to get rid of it ?Just wait it out ?
It is growing on my corals and looks like it may be covering some of them

I did not say you cannot do something else. Herbivores are always helpful, so too is manual pruning until the water parameters are in check. However it will always come back unless your nutrients are under control.
