It is supposed to ship tomorrow. We will see
No reason to wait to get something you end up getting anyway.....

I think the price was so favorable that even if this skimmer would turn out to be slightly off from future needs, I will not feel like the purchase is a setback.
Now I feel I better have time to do some homework before spending $500-$1000 or more if it is even needed.

Some urgency was felt. Since posting the picture the foam has changed behavior.
It is now no longer popping at all. The collection cup is empty, no foam or anything, and all the foam is laying on top.

how much room do you have from the bottom of the inside of your sump to the bottom of your tank. cause if I recall the G5 is tall like 36" or so IIRC plus the extra room to remove the cup.

I have a bit over 36". I knew this going in that I may have to tinker a bit to make it work.

The beast was shipped to arrive yesterday.
Today I got to pick it up at the post office and wrestle it into place.

I knew it would be a tight fit but was prepared for some tweaking.

I am about .5" shy of 3' from sump to plywood. The skimmer is about 3/4" shy so basically it fits...... As long as the collection cup isn't needed because it would not fit in the gap to screw into place.

So I cut a hole in the first of the two sheets of plywood and now it fits great!

Makes me very happy I went with 2 x 3/4" sheets instead of a single 1" sheet

Me too! It is very important that you paint or seal that hole with something ASAP. The skimmer will be blowing moist air on that area non-stop.

When I had my Aqua C under the 55g, I screwed a thin piece of acrylic to the wood. It was very easy to wipe off from time to time.

That is a great idea, I will do that right away.

The skimmer has already pulled as much as the SuperSkimmer would have in a week
