OT_ My Dads needs help finding a used Macintosh
My dad is a freelance editor and he was wanted for a steady job that pays well, but they require him to send the files via a macintosh. He does not wnat to buy a new one, but just needs an older one that he can load fairly beefy programs like pagemaker onto. If anybody has one sitting round in their garages, or one they wouldnt mind lending out temporarily, please let me know. I am trying to help him out and if i can find a computef for him, he can take the job.
Seth

This is from the Florida mac users group
Hope it helps... Ray Reminder: Last Call for Mac Sale - Friday Nov. 30th and Saturday Dec. 1st from 8:30 AM until 1 PM. In addition to the usual yard sale items, I am having a Mac Sale to clear out a majority of my older mac stuff, including software, hardware, parts, accessories and much more. Most of the parts and software will be going for either $1 or for FREE! Memory $1/stick. Keyboards $1 to $5. Laser printers FREE! Any hardware older, such as Graphite G4 towers, Blue&White G3s, iMac G3s and Beige G3s (some with monitors, keyboards and/or mice) will be selling for very low prices. We are located at 1304 Normandy Drive in Mount Dora and here is a Google Maps link to get here: (http://maps.google.com/?q=1304+norma...wloc=addr&om=1 ) This is a great chance to complete any of those old Mac systems that you might have around. Many of these systems and software are still useful for basic users. Hope to see you here. PS - Some of this stuff has already be scooped up tonight by several people, BUT there is still so much more still left. Allen Kalka MDMUG |

Have you looked at Apple Refurbished machines? It's not a HUGE discount, but you get the full warranty on it and you can get pretty current machines.

Seth why are you always using this forum to bum items off others? I'm new to these forums but have watched them for months and all I see is a continual "using" of people on here for your own gain, be it needing a job, parts for your car, computer for family members, and even fish babysitting! The fact that you're still allowed to post on these forums is amazing! Perhaps Reef Central isn't for you. You should find an exploiters forum for your needs.

Couldn't pick a finer person to leave my first post for...If your folks will go bankrupt, will you be having a "going out of business" sale for your fish?

Well what is REALLY funny is that he is bashing me for posting some threads asking if anybody could help me out with something, when so far ALL of his posts have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with aquariums, and in fact they all DEGRADE me for reaching out for help from my fellow piers.
OH!! and lets see....i just went back a COUPLE of days and found someone selling or wanting to trade a boat, someone selling or wanting to trade reptiles, someone selling or wanting to trade a 46" television......... People posting about their trips to Denver Colorado, about a funny joke they heard NOT relating to aquariums...... someone posted about a shoe organizer that hangs on the door, and another person asked if anybody has a motorized wheelchair that they could use for a school project. All in all i have to ask why you chose to rag on me for asking if someone might be able to help my dad out by selling an old mac. I have been on here for YEARS not 4 months like you have, and i have posted MANY threads relating to "fishie" things...but of course i forgot that you never were young and had problems every once in a while and needed to look up to older, more experienced people to help you out, my bad. And this is an environment for aquarists to share information, ask for help and advice, and even post about things NOT relating to aquaria every once in a while. And until you attend an ORCA meeting, you shouldn't bash the members who pay to be a part of the ORCA brethren , and also you would be able to see that we all don't have sticks up our a**'s and can accept that fact that people sometimes DO need help outside of the fish tank.

Seth,
Check out the Florida Mac User Group at flmug@yahoogroups.com Oh yeah, try to ignore the people that flame others... it seems the only joy that they generate for themselves is to provoke a reaction. It's sad really. Anyway, if you don't let them provoke you, they then get bored and go away... |

Nice try Seth...most people who want something on these posts have something to give or trade or sell. You on the other hand are part of the "what's in it for me?" group. In any case, good luck w/ all your hand outs and hand me downs. Also, look into your spelling (so you look half-way educated!). And since when does a year-and- a-half make "years" that you say you've been on here?

I think whats even sadder is the guy doesn't even have the kahoona's to place his real location and joins on the same day he post to bash you, what a weasel !! some people need to take a look into thier own life before they bash others. We all need to pray for Joefishguy(note the most common name out) and his occupation says milker and yet hes bashing you.

I am just happy that seths spelling has improved as much as it has recently! Heck I remember punching some of his earlier posts into my enigma machine and got out coordinates to an artillery strike in stalingrad

Seth, I am in the pro video sales business. If you all can afford it, just have your dad buy the best IMac he can afford and make sure it has at least 2 gigs of ram. You can use Final cut with it. He might have to get an extra hard drive Or he can simply make his clients pay for a hard drive for their project. Buy the refurbish IMac (24" with two gigs ram). The IMac will be just fine unless you have to do a lot of fancy graphics then you will need more ram and perhaps a G5. I know people who are editing for broadcast TV on IMacs using Final Cut. Jeff
