I can't fathom what that screw is for I don't have one on mine, the skimmer will run just fine like that (additionally bonded acrylic is very strong, as a matter of fact on that side of the skimmer the water doesn't even reach that height when it's running

This is a darn good price, mag 3's can be bought for really cheap, and an over flow box is really really simple to diy with acrylic, or even Tupperware, I have one on my aggressive tank, it makes less noise than my year old lap top and skims very well,

Thanks for the kind words CHAOSTACTICS. The screw on this model release is used to adjust the height of the skimmer collection box. However, as you noted, the repair doesn't effect the performance at all.
