You may not get any takers. Most people here hate the Nova because it doesn't have individual reflectors. It works fine for my softy tank though--I just don't have any pictures handy. Good luck.

I don't think that "most people here hate" them.
I bought my nova extreme a little over a year ago and
was not aware of the "individual reflector" concerns until
after my purchase.

I'm very pleased with it's performance overall, and
for the price I feel like I got a good "bang for buck"
return.

Here are a few pics.
(Pardon the HA bloom, be sure to change your bulbs
every 6 months or you'll look up one morning with
some serious Hair!)

i use them on my 450 and love them to death. You can buy reflectors here and there to put on them. they have individual reflectors that just snap on the bulb now.

spanglish, your tank is beautiful. Love your Zoanthids! Don't worry about the hair algae - you'll get those nutrients under control!

You've done a fine job, too, ryan_paskadi!

Are you blaming your HA on 6 month old T5 bulbs?

Back on subject, I used to use a Nova Extreme 4 x 54w on my 55g. It worked great for everything but SPS and crocea/maxima clams. I think the individual reflector bit is vastly overstated for non-SPS/clam tanks. The Nova Extreme is more than adequate for softies, LPS and lower light demanding clams. It's even fine for low-light demanding SPS like monti caps and pocillopora.

My 3 month old 29g with 4X24 t5 nova extreme. I'll be upgrading to a bigger tank in the next few months and am still undecided on MH or T5 as I want to start keeping clams and sps but this light has been great on this tank. I've had a monti cap (not in these pictures) for a couple of weeks now also and it seems to be doing good.

Here is a shot of the 48" 4-54w Nova fixture on my tank:

I built the front two bulb fixture myself using a retro kit.

Recent full shot of tank.

I have a 24" 4bulb w/single reflector, and it works great for my sps and clams. They now have the new fixtures w/individual reflectors.

Here is a shot of my 55 with the nova on it... I have good luck with everything zoos, softies, lps, sps. Tank looks way different now but it will give you the idea.

Current has wisened up and now offers a Nova Extreme PRO with individual reflectors. I would suggest this as an upgrade in a heartbeat. The light lost from the regular reflector makes them only about 1/2 to 1/3 as effective as one with individual reflectors.

Have not had a problem keeping clams yet. Haven't tried SPS in this system. I love mine, but built them into the canopy. No individual reflectors for me yet. Don't plan on changing a thing, no need.

Oh, bulbs have not been changed for over a year.

Those are some awesome looking tanks! Bkoz and Spanglish....what bulbs are you both running.. you have great colors! I have been running my T5 fixture since August and am having great results...I just got brave enough to try some SPS... hopefully they will do great also. I am still working on my bulbs for the right colors... so I would love to hear which bulbs you have...

Thanks!
