Sand

Hi everyone, I'm new to reefcentral, but not new to the hobby.

I currently own a 55g Coral/Reef tank. I have this nasty gravel/rock bed in my tank that I want to replace with actual ocean sand. A source of mine has a bunch of dry sand from the coast of Oregon and Hawaii. My question is, if I put this sand in my tank will it cause any harm?

hard to say, it could, it may not. taking a chance if you do. Some have done similar with no ill effects though so your call.

It can do harm if its collected near shore. You should go out a mile or so out from shore to collect. Otherwise you can get alot of pollutants
