Very nice fish!

It is a male Resplendent Anthias, Pseudanthias pulcherrimus

Not easy to keep in a tank. Needs plenty of caves, hiding places..

That was my thought as well. Its a little pale in your picture, but a friend of mine has one she has kept for over a year now. Its swims freely and openly in the tank.

Actually they look just like my Pseudanthias Flavicauda. Very hardy anthias with big appetites.

AFAIK, flavicauda don't get those pelvic fin colors, male or female. Randall's anthias are much more red. I'm going to go with Pseudanthias pulcherrimus.

I just noticed the coloring at the edge of the fins. Mine do have a slight purple trim but not like the ones pictured further above. I"m with you similar but not the Flavicauda.

It is a changing female randall. Notice the red stripe running the length of the body.

I was under the impression Pseudanthias pulcherrimus males had a slight stripe running through their body. A LFS got some in a while ago. The stripe was quite distinct, yet they didn't look at all like the male randall's I had a while ago...

I forgot about the pulcher males having a slight stripe.

Is there anyway you could find out where it was collected? That is the truest way of telling the Randalli complex apart.
