They're probably together about 90% of the time.

Hmm . . . 3 sailfins . . . what do you think? Heck, why not 5? I think I need a bigger tank. Did they fight much when introduced and did you place them in all at the same time?

Is it a reef tank? I used to have a Salifin tank which consumed my zoa's. Do you tangs bother your corals?

LOL

Xia - All 3 went in together. They reinforce the pecking order from time to time, but never fight. They're possibly from the same brood, as I got them from Exotic's last Red Sea shipment.

jewel - It's a stony/clam reef. Some say tangs are hit or miss, but I believe if their not kept well-fed, they'll resort to picking slime and mucus from corals and clams.

Not all. In the wild some are solitary or in pairs.

I definitely wouldn't try this unless you've got a really big tank, or if you already know that the group is already schooling.

I have a purple tang, a yellow tang, a saifin tang, a scopa tang (thanks to Xia), a blue tang and a naso tang. They pretty much swim together most of the time.

How big is your tank? Did you introduce them all together?

NP, cathoai.

Different species of tang is definitely doable, jewel. Multiples of the same tang can be tricky. depending on the species. PT's are renowned for their aggression.

we have a sailfin, powder brown, purple, orange shoulder and tomini in our tank.. I think that is all the tangs (maybe I need to go down and double check ).

There is only occassional aggression and nothing "premanent".. more like "stop touching me !!!!", a short chase and then back to nuetral corners

Oh, and the purple and orange shoulder are both monsters..especially the orange shoulder which was smaller than the purple when first introduced earlier this year.. now he is the "king" of the tank.

Here is a shot from a couple of weeks ago or so. You can see their relative size in relation to the other fish . Not the best picture, but it gives an idea of size.

They don't bother the feather dusters, clams, zoa, palys, LPS or SPS.. but they also don't bother the aiptasia which was part of the reason I put them in there

Sorry for the hijak Karl...

I know our tank can't compare with yours.. but "half amazing" ?!? :P We are actually going to do some re-aquascaoping to really open our tank up more.. more like yours, in fact. Hopefully I will be able to get that done by the end of this weekend

Happy T'day bro

Come on now, Tom. My tank's just 'different', not amazing. Your skimmer alone is probably worth more than my system

Ok, you guys forced my hand

You can see a very fat purple tang swimming to the front to get into the shot and our powder brown hanging in the background :

Here is a side shot the purple tang

To keep the tang theme going, here is the "king" of our tank, an orange shouldered tangt, with our ever colorful powder brown behind him :

And of course our sailfin

Our tomini didn't feel like posing today for some reason. I saw him lurking in the back of the tank but he just didn't want to be part of the party today. He gets moody like that sometimes

You just need to hurry up and get that big *** tank setup... what else are you missing to get it set up ? (besides the time to do it, I mean ).
