Sharks at Aquarium Adventure

Why does aquarium adventure keep the sharks in that aquarium? They look so crammed in there and wouldn't the Columbus Zoo take them? I noticed now there are two of them in there, when it seems like that could be a nice display tank with coral and other fish in it...

I agree and not to mention the tank looks like crap! Such a lousy home for such beautiful animals.

Legally they cant replace the leopard shark since you cant own one under 3 feet here in the us they just got grandfathered in since they had it before the ban got imposed Sometime in 94.

I used to work at AA (I worked there for about 2.5 years on and off during school). I never heard of a shark from that tank dying.

However, at one point, they put a 2 foot porcupine puffer in that tank with the sharks. I heard that the sharks would bite the puffer during feeding time - the puffer died a few weeks later after showing some pretty serious crypt.

That was the only time I've heard of them doing anything REALLY stupid with that tank.

Update...

The sharks at AA are being moved to their own large facility at the Chicago AA. I stopped in this evening to buy some tubing and when I took a quick stroll by the fish, I noticed the sign. If I recall correctly, it said the sharks will be moved in the next four weeks.

The new Chicago AA is opening in a few weeks. It takes about a year to build one of these stores. That might explain the delay from the original announcement of the "move" to the actual move.
