You're overestimating the intelligence of small dogs. I'm always shocked at what my chihuahuas will eat/drink

I'd take a picture, but it doesn't look much different than it did when we cut it away from the xenia. I'm pretty sure we stressed it out a pretty good bit. If it starts to open, I'll post another pic.

I plan on getting a diamond wheel - it would be much easier than worrying about breaking the brittle little wheels the dremel came with.

We have two dogs - I was kind of hoping the zoanthid spray would hit my wife's (not the one in my avatar - he's MY buddy).

Might be a baby fungia. Kinda looks like it has a dome shaped body that has tentacles extended out from it. Does it have a bony skeleton?

LOL so it's 50/50 on majano vs. zoa??? I'm a snail guy so I can't help you, but there must be someone out there who can REALLY tell the difference without guessing, and actually tell you WHY it's one and not the other....

We need a brand new picture of it open and happy. Since the surgery, the rock it is on should be easy to place in the front of the tank. Leave it alone for a while and it will reopen.

My impression is it is a large polyped palythoa (zoanthid spp.), but the debate won't be resolved based on that original image.

I would say zooanthid because of a couple of features based on the images of the anemone I seen online.

The majano appears in most cases to have their tentacles or whatever spaced more apart, whereas the zooanthid's tentacles things are always more as if they are one. Very little to no space in most cases.

The second thing I would say is the disk appears more like a zoo than anything else. The pics I seent of those majano don't typically have that disk as defined as in zoas.

Thats my opinion, and I am sticking o it.

One vote for a majano. Zoas, IME, do not have full skirt extension like that when new in the tank. The Majanos I've seen have blunt tips on their skirt, just like that.

It even closes exactly the way zooanthids do. And if I am not mistaken, the picture taken was not of the specimen moments after or even the same day it was introduced to the tank, but after it had enough time to adjust is that right jcpatella?

I have had my zooanthids extend fully the same day.

The rock that the xenia and [zoanthid] were attached to were in the tank for two weeks. The coloring and quantity of tentacles is what led me to believe it wasn't a majano. I don't know if it has a bony skeleton - it's so small and I was more worried about getting it back into the tank without upsetting it too much. It's still pretty tiny and not opened up more than the previous pics, but when it does, I'll post more.

I deffinately say zoa/paly. I deffinately don't think its anything bad. I think the gear was a little bit much for fragging, but better to be safe than sorry.

its not that they were wearing too much gear, but the zoa toxins are a bit dangerous if they spit..

HAH! Awesome!

Zestay - Thanks. She's very hot (minus that mask).

I'll take pics of the little guy today so we can get a better idea of what it's looking like.
