I could be wrong but it looks loike they did exactly what I thought they would do. It looks like they formed a single sheet by bending individual "channels" for each bulb. Same thing that they do in the Outer Orbit w/T5 for the T5 pairs. IF this is what they did, the reflectors dont quite envelop the entire bulb. They are alos a bit narrow. 6 bulbs in a 12" wide fixture but the edges take up probably 3/4" - 1" each so it's probably 6 bulbs in 10" of actual space and I think this is going to be less than optimized.
If anyone does an actual test, I wouldnt be surprised to find these fall somewhere between a single large reflector and quality individual reflectors in terms of output. Probably closer to individuals than a single. Also, the cooling wasnt terrible in the old Nova extremes and it looks like they even improved the cooling. So, knowing what I know about the TEK fixtures and the drop in output when using the acrylic shield, I wouldnt be surprised if the new Nova Pro's beat out the 6 bulb TEK with both fixtures shields in place (I wont run without the shield, just too much cleaning to do, reflector staning potential, and no waterproof endcaps). Still probably not going to beat the 5 bulb Aquactinics TX5.

I'm just expressing opinion here and that is based on assuming that the reflector is a single sheet that is bent into individual channels. But whatever the case, I think it will turn out to be a signifigant improvement on the old/standard Nova extreme.
It still has to come in at a price point that would make it a good, budget choice which is tough with fixtures like the Aquactinics TX5 available.

Here's the link. They actually look pretty decent. No IC or aquacintics but with active cooling and a 2" reflector they will be much nicer than the old version. Now it just depends on if they want to be up there in price with the IC or aquacintics or be below. If they are still fairly cheap they will sell pretty well.

You see the gap between the outside bulbs and the edges of the fixture? ... That has got to be an inch on each edge or more. So 6 bulbs in 10 actual inches. I think that will make the reflectors a little narrower than optimal. I'm already pretty sure that they dont completely envelop the bulbs. But it should be a good improvement and comparisons to a flat reflector will not be valid.

yea, I noticed that asa well Dar.....but you have to give them some kudos for trying. And i'm sure they will be able to keep sps and clams so there much better. It would be cool to get a par meter on one though and compare it to an IC, Aquacintics, Tek and see what the numbers are.

Big price increase....i hope that is not a sale price....MSRP: $369.99 for 36"

The old nova sold for under $200 for the 36" version.

$200 for 4 bulbs with one reflector and $300 for 6 bulbs with individually contoured reflector and better fan.

I think it is pretty good for the price.

Oh! i didn't see the 36" came with 6 also. That really isn't a bad deal then.

I also notice they remove the lunar lights in the new units.

very nice dual fans, good price, they may not be the best reflectors but with active cooling it should put out a nice par. I can't see how it will not out perform TEK fixtures.

The pro fixture does not come with moon lights but they also just released the sundial T5HO with individual reflectors and it does have moon lights built in aswell as timers.
