COMAS December Meeting - Secret Santa
COMAS will be hosting our first "Secret Santa" at the upcoming December meeting on the 8th. For those of you unfamiliar with the game, heres the basic idea followed by rules and regulations for participation: We start off with as many of you willing to participate, those participating will bring a secret gift to register. The end result, all participating members will receive a secret mystery gift to make their holidays just that much better. The success of the game will be highly dependant upon a good turnout of participants so I encourage everyone to try and show up for this event.
COMAS Secret Santa 2007: 1) Each member wanting to participate will need to bring one fully wrapped "gift" to register at the beginning of the meeting. No names need be placed on the gift, this is to be random and secretive. Sensitive items such as frags, livestock, or anything else that will probably require a label should have a labeled placed on the bag holding the item and not the outside of the wrapping for all to see prior to the gift being opened. 2) With your registered gift you will receive a number or ticket which will be used to determine the order in which presents are picked. 3) Once all gifts have been registered the game shall commence with the first name being drawn and that person getting his/her choice of gift from the table of random-mystery presents. Then they unwrap it for all to see 4) Now heres where it gets a little fun.... After the first gift has been selected, the next name is called and that person will have two choices: They can either A: Choose a new gift from the table of gifts, or B: Steal anothers gift. In the event that a gift has been stolen, the loosing party will have their choice of a new gift from the table, or to steal another gift with the limitation that they cannot steal back the gift that was just stolen from them. A single gift can only be stolen a total of 3 times before it is literally "off the table" and no longer eligible to be stolen. Each present shall be unwrapped at the time it's received to assist in the stealing process. And that's about it for the actual game, simple yet highly fun....now heres a little bit of fine print: A) We are an Aquarium Society so I highly encourage aquarium related items, frags, equipment, Gift Certificates, etc.. etc.. Use your imagination and choose a good gift to brighten up a fellow COMAS members holidays. B) Items should be in clean and in working order (for equipment and used items) C) There always seems to be 'gag' gifts during these events regardless of the rules so I'll just say, please keep all gifts in very good taste, children will be present at the event and please refrain from any outright 'mean gifts'. This event should be light hearted and fun for all, let's aim to keep it that way please. D) All gifts will need to be registered prior to the event commencing, show up early enough to get this done, and all prizes won and off the table (stolen 3 times or more or game is over) will need to be reported to the club secretary ASAP so we can keep a detailed record of who got what, this will be used to show off what all was involved this year and let everyone see what they "didn't win" All part of the fun. E) Finally, I expect a larger turnout at this meeting so please take it easy on the energy drinks prior to showing up, try and stay a little organized at what will surely be an active/exciting event and most importantly, have a great time and enjoy being a COMAS member at the last meeting of the year!
