Calcium - There Must be an Easier Way

I have a 25 gallon tank, no sump. I currently dose B-Ionic 2 times a day to meet the tanks calcium needs. There has to be an easier way. I am willing to spend a couple hundred bucks if it means that I don't have to think about additives basically ever. What are peoples suggestions?

Thanks,
ADam

With an aquarium that small its hard to believe you would exhaust your calcium before another water change is due. If you cant keep up with the levels with water changes then I would probably start dosing kalkawasser right about now. A calcium recator would be overkill for this tank IMO unless you were going to upgrade later to a larger system.

You can dose kalc very inexpensively and it would probably cost you less than any 2 part.

There is a plethra of info on dosing kalc on this website.

litermeter 3, then you only have to think about them a couple times a month. I have a 25 gallon as well, and only refill my containers of diluted B-ionic maybe 2x a month. That's it. I may dial up the daily dosing amount to meet demands, but I've only had to do that about 3 times in the past year.

maybe some kind of dosing pump and a timer? That seems to be a lot of dosing in a 25g tank with only LPS. Those things must be huge to suck up enough calcium to require dosing 2x a day!

With no sump, I would probably go with a Kent marine dosing jug. It has a drip line and you just fill it up and set it on top of the tank to drip for a while.

hey adam, hope you're well.

i'm in the same boat. i cant keep up with cal/alk. i'd look into ordering ingredients from 2-part solution and use a litermeter3 for dosing. i'll be doing the same once my new tank arrives.

Have you tried using a salt that contains a higher Ca value from the start? This way, when you perform water changes each week, all of your additions are made for you.

Litermeter 3 is worth every penny. My tank runs on autopilot.
