Metal Halide restart question.

I have a M/H question.

Say you loose power for a moment and your M/H lamps don't restart. Is there any safety issue or damage that could result from them staying in this state for an extended period of time say 8 to 10 hours?

Thanks

not sure but the MH need to cool down before they restart. My reefkeeper controller lets them cool down for 30min before the restart.

Currently I don't have them on anything but a light timer.
So far it hasn't been a problem but If there is potential to damage the ballast or bulbs I may just have to invest in some type of controller.

I wouldn’t really care if I came home from work and they didn’t fire one day as long as there was no potential for damage.
