Hippo Tangs and Cleaner shrimp

Will cleaner shrimp readily clean a blue tang of parasites? I plan on getting the shrimp first if my instincts are correct here just to help the hippo along in case he gets stressed acclimating to his new home (as they often do, or so i've heard).

I plan on getting a smaller hippo with the hopes of growing him up for a long life in my tank. Would cleaner shrimp be less inclined to clean a tang in the 3" long range?

I have yet to see my skunk cleaner shrimp clean any of my fish including the hippo which is around 4".
I'm not sure if it's a size issue or the type of cleaner shrimp.

I know a cleaner wrasse does a good job but will die as soon as the parasites are gone.

My cleaner has a cleaning station in my tank that the fish come bye turn their sides, and get serviced.
He only cleans my five inch sailfin, and three inch coral beauty.

My pair of neon gobies do more of the cleaning in my tank then my shrimp. I dont know my shrimp tend to only clean the smaller fish I have in my tank.

when I put my cleaner shrimp in my tank... my tang swam to him before he could make it to the bottom. It was like he had finally been reunited with a long lost friend.

Cleaner Wrasses seem to be the most likely to clean than anything.

Very interesting and thx all. I do intend to get a pair of neon gobey's to go with about 3 cleaner shrimp in a 125G tank. I'll have the cleaning crew firmly entrenched in the tank and the conditions VERY stable before i introduce the hippo.

It's what they do right? Well, anyway, I have four and they will clean anything that gets near them, including me. But, as noted, the fish has to go to them. Cleaner wrasses and neon gobies will tend to approach the fish.
