Canopy Height

I am building a canopy for a 180 (60w x30h x 24d). What height do you think I need to have working room plus room for two 400 mh and 4 VHO. I was thinking 24" would give me room to move light up and down as needed. Any input? Thanks!
Dean

24 inchs would give you lots of room. Depending on how tall your stand is, with that tall of a canopy, you might want to go up to the ceiling and hang it from the ceiling rather than have it set on your tank. Then you could make the whole front hinge up so you could open it up and get into the full tank without any problems incase you have to move lots of rock around, without wanting to remove the canopy.

I have a 36" stand, I had considered going to the ceiling, but I have 13' ceilings and the tank is situated between two 84" tall windows, I didn't think it would look right. I think I will just go with a 24" canopy. I am trying to figure a way to lift lights and canopy top out of the way. I am thinking about a piano hinge about 18 inches back, so the front and 3/4 of the top lifts up out of the way.
