Bye Bye Majano
After trying many different methods and spending hard earned money... good ol scalding hot RO/DI water from a larger syringe does the trick every time. Just stick the syringe straight down into the Majano and squeeze the hot water in... Death follows very shortly there after. Dirt cheap and it does work
I have squirted the hot water into Majano's living in blastos, zoa's, candy canes etc with little or no damage to the surrounding corals. thought this was worth passing along being as Majano's do cause damage to what ever they touch and once they start spreading... look out.

might do a search here on RC for photos of majanos who have taken over veteran reefers (who many of us have heard about) tanks - complete w/ pics showing majanos in every crack and crevice in their system! then you might understand the "...huge waste of life." |

I am not professing to be a majano expert.. just passing along a very simple and basically free way of getting the lil beggers with out introducing all sorts of chemicals that did more harm than good when I tried them.

I have been fighting 3 mojanos and 3 aiptasia for a month with Joe's Juice. They keep coming back. I think they like it. I'll try the boiling water. RODI... of course.

I have had no problems just pulling the majanos off.

Yep, I just puled them off with my (gloved) fingers.
Problem solved. Aiptasia's are another matter altogether, my poor (dead) filefish ate practically all of them, and I had massive colonies of them. Unfortunately he died when the tank crashed while I was in France on holidays this summer. I have restarted the nano, and now I have a few aiptasia's back. New filefish is already on order. Great solution they are. Especially when you put the infested rock into the fuge / sump withthe fish. He just gobbles them all up in no time at all. Way better than my butterly did. regards Conor. |

conorwynne, which filefish did you have? I am being overrun by mojanos and would be willing to try one.
