I would go with MH lighting in a tank that deep but if you don't wanna fork over the money for MH you can get away with T5's. I'd stay away from compact flourescents. They produce a lot of heat and don't last as long as T5's which run much cooler.

On my 120 (24 deep) i am running two lumenarcs with 250 watt Hqis and couldnt be happier! I feel i could put almost anything on the bottom of the tank and it would do great!

Agree, Halides will usually require use of a chiller or a fan in the sump to keep tank from over heating so T5's would be the next alternative. I believe aquactinics has a 72'' fixture but i think its halide/T5 combo. Plus with T5's you have alot of bulb combos to get the color that you like.

a2fire2i, do you have a pic of your tank? Are you using the regular lumenarcs or the mini's?

Fans will be necessary but a chiller isn't. I have 2x250w MH and 2x110w VHO on my 150g and don't use a chiller. I have a closed canopy so fans are a must.

Our 125 is 6' long, 18" deep and 24" high. We use 3-250 watt MH's and 4x96 watt actinics. Sure in the summer it gets a little warm but we use a small fan that's mounted on the back of the tank to help keep it cooler. It really works great. I would go with MH's for your tank.
