Has anyone else had problems with their Aquabee pump?

I've only had it for 8 months and noticed that the flow was completely stopped. I took apart the pump and found that the plastic piece that holds the other end of the impeller shaft had broken. The pump still worked for a while because I can see deep groves cut into the magnet. My guess is at some point it stopped spinning causing the pump to overheat. I wrote to the manufacturers but haven't heard back yet. Has anyone else had problems with the pump or company? I thought these were good pumps.

Mine on PF501 Deltec Ca reactor broke twice last 1.5yrs. Much more likely to have trouble in the Ca reactor application though.

I just lost the 4th pump on my ATI calcium reactor. Since I wasn't paying for those it was no big deal. Now I am going to swap it out for an Eheim.

I've never run into problems with the one on my AP600 , but i run a prefilter on the HOB to make sure i dont get any crap in the skimmer.

I've got another pair of bee's on a DAS Ex-2 that have not given me any problems , yet

It's been 4 days and still no response to my email. Did you guys have problems with plastic pieces breaking off inside the impeller shaft like I did? I'm running this on an Ultralith reactor which has very little head and doesn't require much pressure.

Casey, AquaBees are questionable pumps because some will break and others won't. I'd replace that pump with a MJ900 with a valve, even a 600 would be fine, IMO.

Vinny, I'm using a mag 5 now because I had one laying around, I've put a valve on it. What are you using on your homemade reactor? What is the reccommended flow? Also a couple of things...can you send me Claude's ICQ address so I can talk to him, I still haven't heard back from him. I need to talk to him because I am going to need to place an order, unless I can do that through you.

Casey, I'm running a small 100gph pump that doesn't really have a name, it seems to do the job. The recommended flow is any where between 50-100gph.
BTW, clean out your PM inbox and I'll send you the number.
