Nothing and just be careful and wipe up spills quick? wanted to check with everyone since just paid a grand to refinish... but seems like there is only one place for the tank.. and thats right on em.

when we had our hardwoods redone (before moving in), we had them treated with Glitsa. PM me if interested in the company that did this for us.

it is toxic while being applied, and you need to evacuate for 24 hours, so not the best solution unless you are moving in or have somewhere to go. oh - and would have to have the tank out of the house while applying.

anyway - it puts a VERY hard layer on top of the hardwoods, that you can't notice afterward. they won't even scratch now from our dogs nails or my son racing matchbox cars and other toys down the hallway. very good stuff.

added bonus is that water wipes right off them, and even if i don't wipe it up quick, it has never hurt them.

If you had a big spill the water would leak through the hardwood especially in winter. I have had my tanks on hardwood and follow the "be careful and clean up"

"tank towels" work great.

I have mine on hardwood... and a tank towel permanently sits on the chair next to it. I think if you have a good top sealant(I used McKlosley's gym seal) and clean up quickly you should be ok.
