Tuka Anthias?

Just got a group of 8 Tuka Anthias. Put them in the tank last night and they ate very well this morning(my food is a mix of Mysis, Cyclops, Reef Flakes)

I am very excited because I have heard it can be very tough to get them to eat.

Anyone get any advice as to other things that I might do to minimize the mortality rate? This is the first time I have had any Anthias so any advice is appreciated.

It would be best if you can feed them many times a day. 3 or more is good.

Water quality and places to hide. It is recommended to feed multiple times a day as well. I feed when I get home from work and lights out so about 5:00PM and 10:00PM

I also feed mine brine shrimp(frozen/live) and daphnia (frozen)... They are a bit skittish, and get bullied easily... Good luck.

Thanks for the responses!!

I only have 4 other fish in the tank and it's 10 ft long so they have plenty of swimming room and are not getting bullied at all.

I just fed them again and it appeared like they were all over the food

I will take some pics when i get a chance

I am currently feeding them twice a day. I am hoping they will begin to take pellets so I can feed them more frequently

Getting them to eat is a start but it is rare for them to make it longer than about a year.

Here are some really bad pics:

Hope I posted them correctly

That's a real bummer if they don't make it past a year

If there is anyone out there who has been successful longer than that I would love to hear what you did

There was someon on here who had documented them for 4 years but I have never heard of them being kept longer than that. Beautiful fish though. Best of luck to you.

maybe they dont live much longer than that period. Small high energy animals tend to have short life spans.

I don't do anything much different, I feed them 3-4 times a day, they are in with other anthias, the males seem to hold their own, the females are a bit more skittish, I have had them for a little over a year, I hope they are not nearing the end of their captive lives, we will see....
