Following along....

Does the aqua controller jr come with anything standard? Do you purchase the controller and then add the DC8, the temp probe, and the ph probe or does any of this come with the controller as is?

I have been doing a little searching on these. I found that Aqua Cave will give you the best price, due to the 5% discount you can get for being a member here on Reef Central and then they will ship it for free.

They come in different packages. You can get just the base w/ the temp probe, then you can get the base w/ temp probe serial port. Base w/ the temp probe, ph probe, and serial port. The Dc8 comes w/ all of them. You can buy the DC4 (i think) for your higher wattage equipment. X10 boxes are sold seperatly

After checking numerous websites...

I have to agree with you on Aqua Cave. Thanks for the recommendation. It is very explicit about the packages and what is offered. While $10 more than some vendors with the free shipping and 5% discount it seems like the best offer.

I'm curious about the DC8 and the DC4. I have a Hamilton Protostar 2x250MH & 2x110VHO. Can someone give me an example of what they have plugged into their Aqua Controller Jr and how does this translate to amps used? The DC8 must be less than 15 amps total with 6amps max on each outlet??? The alternative is to use the DC4 however if I can get by with the DC8 I won't have to purchase the DC4 intitially.

Not sure who has the least expensive deal, but I got mine from Reef Geek. They did beat the other big competitor.

You're wondering about the different packages, Reef Geek also have the pictures with prices of all the possible combos for the unit. Here's the link

I'm not affiliated with them. just a happy customer.

By the way, I just bought the NS Jr with the DC8, Serial Port, Temp Probe package and added the Lunar Simulator with 3 LEDs with it.
