I sadly have to report that the ORA trip has been CANCELLED by ORA. One reason for the cancellation is that they are concerned about biocontamination from the visitors (us).

ORA has new management. The rules have changed from the last club visits.

Sorry to have to cancel the tour on everyone. There are a couple of reasons that we are having to do it. As Chris pointed out, ORA is under new management and the bio-security of the company is now a major concern. This weekend is also the biggest tradeshow of the year (HH Backer show in Chicago) so your potential tour guides will be leaving tomorrow.
I would like to have you guys come up sometime in the future, I will try to work something out with Chris.

Thanks,

Chris,

You really need to send an email out. Because there are a number of people that do not check this site.

I planned my whole weekend around this trip thats sucks that it was canceled. I do understand why though. I hope we can reschedule maybe with less people and a few trips. I think they would feel better about watching over 10 people tour there facilities rather then 30+

Biocontamination? Sounds bogus to me. Appears that someone has been contaminated with a bad attitude.

I imagine the group became larger than they were expecting. I mean we were probably up to 40-50 people. Hopefully they'll reschedule soon.

Wether anyone thinks cancelling the trip is bogus,I don't think stating it in these threads is the smartest thing to do.They were kind enough to allow the club to plan a visit & reserve the right to cancel for whatever reason, without having to explain themselves. They may not be so eager in the future.I just hope I can make the next trip.

I disagree, I see nothing wrong with expressing our opinions as long as we are not rude or disrespectful, I think that if I was the ORA CEO I would be interested in knowing the general opinion and acceptance of the company and products, not to mention the free publicity.
We are a growing club full of potential customers! how much is that worth?
I certainly expect ORA to reconsider the tour for sometime in future like Dustin mentioned.

I think we should be respectful of their reasons whatever they may be. They are a business and don't have to have tours at all, so if they allow us to do so, that is due to their generosity. We should maintain a positive relationship with them so that we can arrange a trip in the future...it will be well worth it.

I understand commmando45's point, but I have to agree with Rogger:
They are a company, we are consumers. They have the right to cancel the trip, we have the right to express our disapointment and question the legitimacy of the stated reasons. Perhaps we risk less cooperation in setting up a future visit, but they risk an expanding circle of disatisfied customers. If biocontamination really means sabotage, then say so. We don't have ick. If the "biggest trade show of the year" caused a schedule conflict, then why did they schedule us for that weekend? I doubt the biggest trade show of the year came up out of the blue.

I agree that is a very kind gesture to let us tour the facilities but basically we are just expressing the disappointment caused by the cancellation for whatever reason, for me after a couple of years looking forward this opportunity with anxiety of counting the days. We are not talking bad about them I will still buy an ORA frag anytime I run into one and have the means (wish more stores in Dade carry them), the reaction would be the same if the cancellation was due to the weather.

Guys,

Once again, we are sorry that your tour had to be cancelled. I can assure you that our reasons are legit and have nothing to do with the club, or any of you personally. We just don't have enough people at the farm right now to give a tour of this size, even if we figured out a way to handle the biosecurity issue.
As to to the biosecurity issue, is has nothing to do with sabotage as mentioned. It has to do with un-intentional or accidental cross contamination between various systems in a given building, or between the other hatcheries on campus. Most of our employees are not allowed to travel from one building to the next, and they all now follow strict protocols involving chemical foot baths and sterilzation of equipment and body parts touching parts of the systems. These protocols are new and we don't have anything laid out to handle tour groups anywhere near this size.
Hopefully in the near future we can get the issue resolved and bring you guys up here.

In the mean time, we appreciate your understanding and support.

Thanks,
Dustin

Thank you for your honesty and sincerity. I look forward to a tour in the future, but again, it's a privilege not a right, so if it happens, awesome, if not, thanks for trying for us.
