Scratches around drilled hole...should i be worried?

Okay i drilled my tank and now the hole is there however there is scratches about 2 inch around the hole. This occurred due the slipping action during the initial drill with a diamond coat hole saw. Should I worry about these scratches because they still show I installed the bulkhead.
It does look kind of ugly seeing that my 29g is such a new tank.

repair

you could use windshield repair kit to fix them if you are worried
I don't think you have too much to wory about because the tank is small and the water will pose no measurable pressure on the scratches
Good luck
Manny

Support the pipe you connect to the bulkhead with brackets or some other way. Don't hang a heavy piece of water filled PVC off the side of your tank, it's not designed for it... nor will the scratches make it any stronger.

If the scratches are deep then the tank could have been weakened in that area. Better safe then sorry.

it isnt deep. It's just a result of the drill bit sliding around initially because its hard to keep it stable.

Make sure the flange and washer is on the un scratched side. Those scratches will never seal uunder a washer. Long as it is the nut side I wouldn't worry about it but yes support your plumbing. A 29 uses thin glass you need all the help you can get.

This is kind of late now but.... The same thing started to happen when I drilled my tank. To prevent the bit from sliding around like that I held the drill at like a 45 degree angle. Once the drill starts to cut into the glass, start to tilt the bit flat. Once you're like halfway through you should have the bit flat on the glass. When drilling my second hole I never got even a small scratch on the glass.

I used an angle drill guide from Harbor Freight for the second hole I drilled, and it came out beautifully. The first one was done freehand, and has some scratching and minor chipping.

We learn from our mistakes dont we? I'll think about using a guide next time

Anyways I guess painting the back of the tank with coats of Krylon fusion black in a few days will cover up the deep scratches and make me forget about it
