for my tank i think i want as much "swim" room as possible... i hate over flows personally... im actually thinking about drilling the tank and installing bulk heads and some kind of small overflow unit... i am going to post a thread later regarding the idea, i am wondering if it will work, i have never sen anything like what i am thinking about.

That looks like it was part of a wet/dry setup. I havent seen any of those siphon overflows before. CPR sells one. LifeReef has the best one IMO. You would have to have two.

You planning on drilling a glass tank yourself? Good luck with that. keep the bit wet, use some clay/silly putty to make a dam.

Standpipe would be the easiest/most straight forward, but also the most noisy. You could drill the back and make a box and glue it to the inside.

If you want just a normal weir box, you can get some here:

oh sorri tank... didnt see ur post till now... umm... naw i was going to have some other reefer that might have experience with drilling do the tank for me... i think that would be the best bet. lemme load up these pix of the idea i have and see what u guys think... my main concern is will the water drain down the holes! there is NO SIPHON its only going to gravity feed. There will be 2 boxes, one on each end of the tank only allowing a certian amount of water to make it through in the first place but im no physics king so im not sure if it is possible. thx for the link, i think i will use them for the over flow box's

there will be very limited rock work just to hide the pumps just sand and sea grass... im planning on only using two 75watt 20K MH over the tank about 5 hours a day, i wonder if that will be enough light to keep the sea grass alive.

that overflow idea looks really good

where is your water flow going to be located

i think it would be good to have alot at the top and almost none at the bottom...

yea all the returns will be near the top cause i dont want to up-root the sea grass... the bottom will only have a few small wave makers to cycle the current about every 7 mins.

Those work well. Wavy Seas are pretty good too. Have two of them going. Makes nice gradual changes in flow directions and you can adjust the speed.

I've been experimenting with a coldwater setup for a few years now. I recently added a coldwater section to my website detailing some of my experiences. You might want to check it out to see if anything is appllicable to your situation.

My system is set up to completely eliminate ALL sweating with a tank temp of 55 F....some of my condensation precautions can be down graded if you're keeping the tank in the upper 60 or lower 70 range.
