can I keep a 10" Vlamingi in my 180 reef tank?
I have a friend who wants to get rid of this tang. I am wondering if my tank is to small for the fish?
thanks for the advice Dean

I would think your tank is on the lower end of space requirement for these type of tangs. I would pass on this fish unless you plan on upgrading your tank size.

Dean,
I'm not a Tang Policeman but IMHO a 180 is too small for a Vlamingi, both in terms of the fish's well-being as well as the tank as a whole. Best of luck.

a 180 is a a little small for a vlamingii of that size but that being said, i have seen large vlamingii's in 240G cubes

A tang that size would make you tank look small.

I have a vlamingii in my 300gal table tank (4'x8' footprint). I sometimes worry about when he gets bigger. Can't imagine putting him in something that small.

Just be aware that vlamingiis are nitrate machines. You will have to add some nitrate reduction method.
