Name this flower pot?

Has anyone heard of a Red Alviapora? at a LFS we saw this piece of beautiful bright red coral, the owner said that it was in the flower pot family.

Alveopora is actually considered to be an LPS. No experience with the red variety in particular. They can be a bit difficult to keep and will need to be fed.

We rotate the food for the filter feeding, phytomax, zoomax & chromax. We also feed the fish mysis shrimp, silver sides and formula 1 variety pack. We do use cyclopeeze just to show off to our friends how they eat. We never have used rotifiers, what is your opinion on this product?

I use frozen rotifiers. They seem to be a resonable food for some corals. Live rotifiers would be better, but at the moment I dont have space or time to set up a culture.

Alveopora or Porites? I know they can look really similar, so I wonder.

I am not sure what it is, but they are coming in from Indo as Red Gonipora. there polyps dont really expand out to far , there are alot more thinner polyps than what i think of when i hear Red Goni.

Yes, I will take more today when it opens up a little more, we just moved it to the middle of the tank yesterday. It seems to like the brighter light. This piece at the LFS was so red and bright, you could see it across the room. The size is appx. 8"x"4.

Looks like Goniopora stutchburyi to me, perhaps G. somaliensis, mostly likely, G. stutchburyi

justincognito,
no it does not't look like a Goniopora stutchburyi, the polyps are not that big.
