Large tank (>4000g) calcium experiences/recommendations?
A very large reef system has recently come under my care, and while I have a good deal of practice in the 'normal' tank size range, this eclipses my experience somewhat.
There are quite a few improvements that I would like to make, but my first concern is calcium and alkalinity supplementation. The system currently has two large (~3 gallons of media/each) custom single-chamber calcium reactors fed by MaxiJets. Currently, pH, alk, and ca++ are all a touch on the low side (8.05, 2.8, 380), and I would like to bump them up and make it a bit more adjustable. My current plan is to switch the calcium reactors over to a peristaltic pump, add a secondary media chamber to them, and supplement the freshwater top-off with a dosing-pump driven Kalkwasser stirrer. Critiques from experience? Suggestions on sizing/brands? Much appreciated, -Jon |

2 x Schuran Jetstream 2 should do the trick.
They can handle 2667g each. |
