Talking Mantis Molt

So thankfully Circe didn't die during her first molt with me (yay)
i was out and my mom called me and told me she molted so i went home right away to find my dumb urchin chowing down on her molt. so i shooed him away with a chopstick and shes dug a hole in the sand to bury it (i think).
i also turned the white light off and left the blue one on for some of the pictures, to not stress her out.

i was also lucky enough to snag her beater, i opened it and left it out to dry.
here is it closed...

here is it opened...

i also managed to take her face too....

Wow, those are some great pics. I had not realized the open/close anatomy of their "clubs".

Thanks for sharing!

how big is your urchin? Does anyone know if a G. smithii will go after it?

it really depends on the attitude of your mantis. mine bumps into it once in a while but she hasn't taken a whack at it yet.
