Brace for an older tank?

I have a 30g long,
it is 36"x12" footprint
There is no center brace across the top, well the front and back are
bowing out slightly. I don't want to replace the entire top brace so i ordered a piece of glass that I am going to use to brace the front and back panes of glass together.
Will silicone be enough to hold this together?
I plan on using a clamp to squeeze the sides together while it cures.

Will this work?
if not, where can I buy a top brace?

Yep its done quite often that way. Also you might want to look into whats called Euro Bracing. Although if you've already ordered the glass it may be a bit late to change.

PS. don't over clamp when adding the brace. Is the tank full or empty?

well a Eurobrace would be a lot more work (and money) wouldn't it?
Its just a FW tank anyways, I didn't want to spend a lot fixing it.

I assume that the trim is intact. you can just glue an acrylic eurobrace. to the rim. cutting large access holes on either side. This would be cleaner if you dont have stuff that hangs on back.
