Is GE "Lexan" silicone reef safe.

GE makes a silicone sealant that is intended for lexan and other plastics. Instructions on the package say it is excellent on glass as well.

BUT

Is it safe to use in a tank?

I had problems with my GE silicone a few years back. It did not say mold inhibitor on it, but my tank let me know the next day that something was wrong. I ended up losing a ton of new corals and it took months for my tank to make a come back.

Unless you are going to silicone a swimming pool, is it really worth the savings?
Here is some silicone for $6.77 for a caulk gun size tube.

Good point.
The reason I was asking about this particular product is that it is for lexan. Other silicone products do not work well on plastics.

I apologize. I missed that part of your post. What exactly are you trying to seal?

I want to use Plexiglass for bulkheads in a large sump being built fom an old 180 gal.
Plexiglass is easier for a clumsy person like me to work with, and can be drilled or cut after it is in place if a mistake is made.
