My first coral, a zoa!!

Just wanted to post a pic of my first coral. Decided to go with zoas. Dunno if I'll ever go any other. I really like the zoas. So here is a pic.

Just a little background. I've been looking for a decent frag that was pretty cheap and looked pretty good. But it seems at the LFS it was hard to find that, without paying $69.99 for a frag. I got this one for 24.99 and we almost didn't catch it. Found it in one of their nano tanks. So tell me what u think about it.

It looks like you got a good deal on two different types of zoanthids. The top ones seem to be green bay packers:

and the ones in the bottom right are radioactive dragon eyes.

Nice pickup and great pics!

Thanks for the info. And thanks for the links. I thought it was a decent deal. I also have a little piece that broke off of the main rock that has some of the Green Bay pakcers on it. Has about 2 polyps. I'm really excited. Ready to start trading these things. Looking to eventually get some pink panthers and some other really nice ones.

Sounds like you are a careful shopper and it paid off bigtime. Very nice choice, great price and really nice colors. Couldn't look any healthier. Nice pic as well. It's possible you'll notice an even greater depth to colors as they adapt to your tank over couple weeks if they don't get moved around alot. 2 polyps on a small rock should soon become 3 to 6 and ready for trade for the other things you want. Good luck....

thanks guys

Thanks for all the great comments. It is really appreciated. Sounds like I got an even better deal than I thought. So do you guys think I'll have any problems trading frags once I get some going? And does anyone know where to get some pink panthers? My fiance really really wants some.

I think I would start out with your local club members and then lfs in your area. This link is to forum here where people sell and trade frags. If you are careful who you deal with, you should be able to buy or trade for those you want.

I got a polyp of the dragon eyes on a piece of rock. now its just a waiting game. figured I'd wait for the packers to fill out the frag I got em on before I started messin with them. if some of the dragon eyes are mixed in with the packers will they spawn together and create a hybrid of the two or will they just spawn independtly?
