T5 Vs. PC
I know this is probably a basic question to most people, but I've had PC lighting for over 2 years and my current fixture is on its way out, so I'm wondering about upgrading to T5's. I guess my question is what are the strengths and weaknesses of each, which is better, a 55watt T5 or a 65watt PC, and how long do each bulbs last?
I keep just soft corals and LPS, so I don't need metal halide or anything. I currently have 4 65watt PC bulbs, two are 10k and two are actinics. Thanks for any help or opinions. |

Also, which T5 bulbs would you recommend if you recommend that 4x54watt fixture? There seem to be quite a few actinic choices. I currently use the Current USA 7100K Blue Power Compact bulbs.

from what ive gathered.
T5 bulbs need replacing about 12-18 months whereas PC bulbs are 6-12 months. T5s have better penetrating characteristics and more PAR than PC bulbs, so the light is going deeper but keeping all its spectrum (think I got that right, correct me if im wrong plz) Ive read that T5s run hotter than PC bulbs. |

I have 96 watt 03 actinic blue. I like the color. I replace those about every 12 months.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be switching to the T5's then.
