Skimmer Choice?

Okay, I'm hopefully setting up my 55G mixed reef soon... The lfs hasn't been able to get in contact with the guy who's building my stand and canopy. :x

I'm looking at the Euro-Reef RS80 and RS100 (as this is my first marine tank and I want things to go as smoothly as possible) or an Octopus NW150. My questions are, which works better? The NW150 or the RS80? How difficult is it to mod the NW150? What kind of output should I expect unmodded? Modded?

Check the tunze 9010. Very small footprint. Pulls a lot of gunk. Very quiet. No fuss no muss.

The reason I was looking at ER and the Octo is because I'm looking for a good, affordable in-sump skimmer. Space isn't an issure for me, but the extra $125 for a tunze is.

I've heard VERY good things about the Octo and the ER, so I'd like to stick with those two.

How will it compare unmodded? For a 55 mixed reef and a moderate to heavy fish bioload, do I need a 200 or will a 150 do the trick?

How hard are they to mod? I know modding it will do wonders, but I don't want to screw this up (I'm not very handy and this is my first skimmer).

a 150 would be more than enough
do the meshmod, easy and fast

Just got my DAS EX-1 last week, pulling lots of skimmate, comes highly recomended.

The ER or the Octopus would both do a fine job for you.
