Does anybody know how many inches of water the octopus nw 200 needs to have in the sump to operate? I searched around and can only find the the footprint of it.

I have mine sitting in 6" of sump water, I recently converted it into a recirc skimmer fed with a maxi-jet 1200 (yeah a little much for a feed pump) and I did other mods as well. Before all the mods it ran well, now it just screams on my WELL stocked 150.

If you want to mod yours to a recirc let me know, I talked to joe over at octopus and he filled me in on all the mods, took me about 2 hours to do, SIMPLE.

Sorry about that, I was measuring with my skimmer as a recirc skimmer and now my needle wheel pump is no longer in the sump, MY FAULT.

But 6" for my feed pump. I doubt that help you.

I would put your baffles up high and put the skimmer on the stand, that way you hold more water in the sump. I just built an egg crate and pvc stand for my nw200 yesterday, just leave enough room for your pipes to drain back in the event of a power outage.
