Anyone have good luck with the HP dv9500T? We're done with Dell...

Thanks!

Don't have an dv9500 but I do have an older HP laptop (4000, which I'm typing on right now ) and have liked it. Its taken its dings (including having dogs jump up on top of it) and still works great.

Also for $2400 you could probably get one of the mac laptops if that's something you would possibly be interested in.

look at lenovo (excellent machines - look at T series) and toshiba (love my tablet pc) you can definitely find a configuration under $2400.

You could by 4 of those $500 laptops from WalMart for that price.

And then you'd hate life 4 times as much as if you'd just bought one of them!

I have an HP zv6000 as my main computer, and I have had no problems with it as of yet (over two years old now). I like it.
We have also had Toshiba notebooks in the past as well, and they have been very good computers.

I have the HP dv6000 as my surfing/travel laptop (using it now as I sit here) , $1200 or so .

$2400 will buy a ALOT of laptop, but with that will come weight, size and heat.

Check Costco online. You may be surprised at what you can get, backed by costco.

$2400 can also buy impressive smallness, not just raw power. Check out something like a fully loaded Dell D430.

Which brings up a good point. It's hard to make recommendations without knowing the intended usage!

Mac is the best and iam still getting used to it, a lot used to it actually. Its a lot different than a pc and will take time getting used too of course but i love it, with the icam photobooth and anything else you can imagine, the limits are endless with this machine. So get a Mac no doubt.

all pcs are made by intel basically and they are all the same even the Macs use intel motherboards

the key to a good computer is apple Operating system 10.4.10 or ) OSX it is far better than windblows thats why people love macs oh and they come with the best free software ever.

osx>windows

wiith your budget id go for a 15 inch bottom of the line macbook pro with as large a HD as you can fit.

not to get too far off topic...
I'm not much of a MAC fan, I need MS for work, but I will say one thing, as far as convergence phones, Apple wins with the iPhone... I'm not sure about the quality of their laptops having never owned one, however, if you have no absolute need for a MS based machine, a MAC is as user friendly and reliable as it gets.

Luis, you need to consider the fact that since recent Macs are all built on intel chipsets, they can natively run Windows if a user wants to.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions and info- we're looking at multiple applications- cd burning, watching movies, biz stuff, yes, hanging out here while sitting in front of the fireplace this winter.

I have a HP dv9013cl (there are a lot of different dv9xxxx models). Mine works fine. I kind of like the XP Media Center.

If this is something for two of you, you could probably get one each I think mine was about $1,000. I don't think I could stand it if I had to share a computer with my significant other.

At work I use a Mac (publishing biz), at home I use a PC, mostly for surfing.

MS as in MS word you need to run? Microsoft makes office for OSX, you can still have Excel, Windows ...etc and open/send files to windoze users.
