If you have RO/DI and no fish, do you have any idea where the excess nutrients are comming from?

What equipment do you have on the tank? Are you feeding the tank at all?

How the heck did you fit 120 lbs of rock in a 29g tank?

What equipment do you have on the tank (especially for nutrient export?) Skimmer? Filters? Powerheads? Anything?

What is your water change schedule?

What are your phosphate levels?

Nevermind. I see you are using live rock from from an old tank. My guess is the nutrients are leaching from there.

Water changes. Some type of phosphate removal (phosban, rowa, etc). You might also try some plants (cheato) in your fuge if you haven't already.

There was an interesting thread on keeping your tank dark for a few days every month to help keep down the of algae growth (sorry no linky). I've been thinking about trying this one myself.

You should try a phosban reactor. Change the media weekly until it drops down. It worked for me and I no longer have to use the reactor. Also pick or scrub as much of the algae as you can

Drs. Foster/Smith has one on sale for $33.59, without media. The media will cost you about $15 or $20. I use one on my 135G and it does the trick. I also use the PhosGuard media, which is a pellet.

If you have 120lbs of LR in a 29 gal. you can't have more than a quart of water in there!! You could do water changes with a tablespoon. LOL
