which pump do YOU use to mix your salt

I use a maxijet 1200 to mix my 45 gallon saltwater container

kinda weak but it gets the job down for less then $20, uses 20 watts and 295 gph, plus i have like 6 of them laying around not being used anyways. come to think about it I think I will switch to a maxijet 900 because it is only 8.5 watts and 230 gph. could take a long time to mix though. i usually have it on the bottom pointing towards the top of the container, is this the best way? instead of around in a circle?

which pump do you guys use?

I think the prefered method is what ever works for you. :P You can throw in a heater in the mix to help dissolve the salt if you want. I personally use the same pump w/o heater, and let it mix for 2 days. I still end up with tiny salt particles, but it doesn't bother me that much.

I use a Mag3 that has been converted to a Mag7. It is the mixing pump as well as the water change pump.

MJ 1200. I change 15 gallons, usually let it mix for 3 - 5 hours.
The new water is pretty much clear when it goes in so it does the job. And I just use regular ole Instant Ocean.

Quiet One 3000. This pump was certainly not the advertised "Quiet" so it got sent down to mixing duty. I only mix like 6 gallons at a time, so the QO is enough to mix and heat the water.

Mag 36 with a 1/2" venturi hooked up to it. I let the water spin and bubble for a couple hours and then good to go.

Am i doing it wrong? I only have to do a 5 gallon change but i put it in my bucket and stir it with a big wooden spoon like you would use to cook with. and don't let it sit for days or hours and it has never bothered the tank. and the water is usually clear little with particals but besides that it is good.

I use a mag 7 in a 32g brute. No need to add a heater with that sucker.

I use an old AquaClear 404 PH (left over from FW days) in an 18g Rubbermaid bin. It's strong enough to mix the SW and then pump it into the sump when I do a water change.

I like to use a large hammerhead pump to mix it fast, it has never clogged or anything yet, here's a pic.
[IMG][/IMG]
That 1.5" pipe on the left goes up and into the top of the mixing tank then exits about halfway down inside. This way it forces the water towards the bottom so the salt can't just sit on the bottom of the tank.

I use a MJ1200 to do the mixing in a 34 gallon trash can and then a Mag 7 to pump it into the tank. I use a Python to syphon all the crap out of the sump. I do about 15-20 gallons every Sunday.
