td nova extreme question
i am wanting to buy the 48 inch nova extreme from dr fos and smith
but i didnt see anything about hanging it does anyone know if i can hang this fixture above my tank? |

It is not designed to hang...meaning it does not come with built in attachment points. Also note that my Nova extreme 8x54 is in the shape and dimensions of the Orbit fixtures...not the Sattelite fixture that all the online retailers show pics of and give dimentions of.

No hanging provisions for the Nova Extremes, atleast there wasnt in the past when I got one. You can still hang it however. I took two pieces of thin cable, enough to wrap around the entire fixture, one length of cable for each end of the fixture. I inserted a length of silicone airline tubing over each piece of cable to protect the finish of the fixture and acrylic lens. I put small loops on the ends of the two cables using cable ferrules that you crimp on. Then just used a couple of those quick links on each cable, running it through the loops. Then another couple of cables to hang the whole thing from the ceiling.
I think they make a hanging kit that is sold seperately (unless they are now including it). It has two brackets that screw, with the existing screws, onto the each end of the fixture at the top. Then these brackets support cables for hanging with height adjustable hardware. This may have been for a different fixture but I think it was for the Nova Extreme. That's my direct answer for your specific question. I anticipate several responses in relation to spending your money somewhere else
