Thanks Dude....I'm going to mod a QO4000 and hopefully i can get good numbers at 30"+ of head. I'll let you all know after I get it done. My thinking is that it should be able to do 60-70SCFH...now if it will do that with head i don't know.

Jeff,
Becuase the rotational velocity is greater than in the QO3000 I think that if a smaller mesh wheel, ie 40mm, with four layers of mesh was used it would be possible to get 1200 lph at lower watts in the QO4000 than in the PSK2500. If you have enough mesh could you possibly try this out becuase if it seems to work I will probably take the plunge and buy a QO4000. In addition because a 40 mm wheel may be able to produce 1000 lph plus air, I think that a QO4000 will have no startup problems compared to the QO3000 at this output.

not sure on the 3000, but the 4000 on my closed loop starts every time with no issues...

I have not owned a 3000, but considered getting one for a closed loop. While reading feedback from others, there was a persistent complaint about not re-starting.

I do not have first hand experience, but thought it worth mentioning anyway.

Does faster rotation translate to smaller bubbles also? i.e. more chopped up

Update,
I put the QO3000 onto a prototype skimmer and it is pulling after 12 hours in opperation 40 scfh at 28 watts with 18 inch head.

How much head is on the BM200?

less than that. The whole skimmer is only about 22" tall, and the waterline is about 6" below that. There is only about 16" of water depth on an ATI.

Sorry guys I have two problems right now, have a big review that I am writing and have had no time to even sleep. Also I forgot how to imbed pictures into a thread and dont want to screw it up a few times like I had in past threads. If someone could PM the exact instructions on how to do this I would really appreciate it and will try to post tonight.

QO3000 Mod 1.0

Here is the venturi, it is simply the bottom of one of those disposable margarita glasses filed doen to 15 mm at the small end and small enough on the other to fit inside the stock QO3000 pipe fitting

Okay now I get it. Here is the performance of this venturi in 10 inches of water, no skimmer:

Looks like me showing some facts and voicing my opinion based on them got this thread closed...
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...7#post10406907

Thats funny... I thought I was paying ATI a huge compliment by saying their new pump would be a huge bonus because it wasnt a Sicce PSK. After working with these Sicce pumps for a bit, Im kinda let down. They arent very quiet out of the water, and the QO 3000 is a better pump for the money. Their power factor is horrible, and as a consequence they run very hot. I modified the venturi, and get a nice 40scfh now on my skimmer, so its okay... but my eheim is much better.

Looks like you got it right dudedudedude... 55 scfh for 27 watts kills the Sicce.

To all of you with the Sicce pump.

today i got one pump from jason and and immediately i saw the problem .

if you take out the cover of the pump you will see the hole in the back of the cover it's narrow , on the original Sicce it's 28mm wide on yours it's 17mm this restrict the pump performance , when i swap my cover the pump pull 25LPM without problem . sorry i don't have picture no cam.... it's the same pump and this is the only problem .

there is option to increase the hole :
you can do it with dremel or if you want to do it more Pro you will need to use a Stand Drill and 1" flat drill bit , there is enough space to drill it without to damage the shaft holder .

After that you will be able to pull 25LPM without problem when the pump connect ot the skimmer body .

I'll be getting the sicce pump within a few days that pulls 4000lph. IMO it should pull around 55-75scfh at around 30-40 watts. What do you think?
