Yea, going to be hanging around and updating my threrad - mainly asking for help. Alot of stuff seemed to mount up with costs of equipment, electricity bill, less time due to work etc. During the cooler months of the winter my RODI unit (which badly needs cartridge changes) didn't produce enough water and I just used tap water. Don't have algae problem but my God, the PO4 levels are through the roof and that's the main cause for the RTN madness. New RODI unit with lots of spare cartidge and a million buckets of Phosban will get me back on track.

NexDog: could you be kind enough to post a link to your thread?

TIA!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming, temporarily off-air due to a collecting trip....

Hope everyone is safe and having a blast!

Man, what a blast. It was so fun to get away and see something that looked like an ocean. I took a bunch of pictures, and I know others did as well. It seems like about 20 DFWMAS members made the 6.5 hour drive for the weekend collection trip. I want to thank MARSH and MAAST for their organizing this event, and especially to Big Bird (Steve) who seems to be the one taking the lead each year.

I'm acclimated a bunch of Peppermint Shrimp right now, divided into 4 or 5 bags worth. I must have caught about 150 to 200 last night. Some are large, many are medium and some are tiny! Getting that many my first time was very exciting.

I also collected probably 200 to 300 Nerite snails. The water in that area was 1.008 sg, so I'm trying to bring up the salinity now.

Other cool things I netted included a tiny pipe fish, a tiny eel, a couple of tiny flounders, two sergeant major damsels, ghost shrimp and a monster 6" long blenny (Rock Blenny? ) that I gave to Robert to put in his Gulf Coast tank. I also brought home a clump of Ulva macro algae that is in my refugium now with some tiny hitchhiker snails and pods.

The Bonfire on Friday night at the beach was nice and relaxed. The BBQ on Saturday was hot and filling, and I even won something in the raffle. Collecting late last night was the most fun even though I was wet from head to toe before we left the jetty (1 mile from the end to the beach & cars).

I also am a tad red from the sun & wind. Overall, the weather cooperated nicely with the trip.

More later....

(Hi Nexdog! And no, I stopped a long time ago as I didn't get good results from using it)

I just did a count on the Anthias. I saw 7 total today. That means there is only one more I need to be able to count to say I had 100% success with that order.

No new pictures today. I have too many from the trip to go through at the moment.

Thank you for the placemarker. From now on, everyone has to add the post count to the bottom of their post.

Yes, I have all the livestock finally in the tank, and more pictures to edit. I'm really feeling lazy, so here is a link to the pictures on our club's site. They will be posted on a webpage or two on my site by this weekend.

Awww man! You actually went to the ocean and collected critters. Damm this landlocked state I live in!

Although, I hear someday I'll have ocean front property.

Yep, I put them in the reef, the prop section, the pico, the nano and the quarantine. And in the belly of my Longnose Hawkfish too, I bet.

10375 - I don't know how long I can keep this up!

More pictures later.
