There is no doubt this owner can grow SPS as nice as the best of them....But like many others have been said, he def needs to think out his new project a little better. With nicer aquascaping, this tank would be one of the best I have ever seen... but right now I must simply say they are some of the nicest corals I have seen......

Very beautiful corals, but I would have to agree that the tank is just too....crowded/busy/cramped.

Yes...beautiful corals...but too 'arranged' for my taste...esp. the clams in the front...

Great healthy system, but the aquascaping artistry is non existent. The current TOTM (phocuz) beats this hands down in this area.
Completely agree.

Someone in our club had a 125 that looked like this. She pulled out like 2/3 of the colonies, and let the best ones get huge. Much more natural looking.

His looks like the candy aisle. If you like that look, thats great. Some of us dont.

Nice tank though.

I agree....he should give those extra, superfluous colonies to me.

Too Cluttered

Hey again.

I seem to have caused a buzz again.
Let me reiterate what I posted eariler.

Dont get me wrong, the tank is beautiful, as far as COLOR goes.
But, I do not like the aquascaping of this display, or the massive numbers of acros shoved together so tightly.

It looks more like a fruit stand than an aquarium.
And I agree, the Clams littered across the bottom of the aquarium is a big ol' turn down/off!

I have seen much nicerly layouts than this.

NOTE* This is my personal opinion, and this post was not written to bash anyone!

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Simple as that!

I've also seen areas of the ocean what aren't that populated as well. Varies with the location

Who's picking on the thread? They are simply stating their opinion on the populatin of the tank. No one is bashing the corals or the colors of the corals, but simply stating that they think the tank is just simply too full.

I don't recall anyone saying anything about Allelopathy, but simply giving an opinion.

Beautiful corals IMO but again the aquascaping skill is very lacking.

I would love to see a SPS dominated tank aquascaped like this

you need a lot of depth from front to back to accomplish aquascaping like that....at least 30". I agree with you though that this open look is very pleasing. I'd like to have it in my tank.

Yeah, but I see like two species of corals, not 40, and they are amazing size, not softball size.

That coral reef is very crowded but at the same time the corals are huuuuge. They grew into that crowded state where the captive reef is crowded with corals 6 inches across. None the less my jaw dropped at the color. I love the tank, just not how I would do it. But its not my tank

Buddy there's always an opinion around here that's what makes this forum what it is. Unfortunately the opinions are sometimes unwarrated.
Me i also love an open look in fact my 200 aqua is open but who would not want colonies that healthy and big.
I guess over time I've noticed that around here people get to picky and you ask them how long they been reefing and they state 10 years then post a pic of a frag tank with 3 caps and a tank full of cyano lol.
the bottom line is that this tank as well as many other around are just simply stunning and require lots of know how and expertise to keep up -especially one that's as crwoded as this one.
And yes is possibly one of the best tanks out there, me I reather look at S.weast(oregon) or the softie posted above.

In the end is all a matter of taste, but this tank IMHO is simply out of control.

Allelopathy remark iis just that .

I personally love the tank shown above. Much more open and pleasing to the eye IMO.

I agree that the skill it takes to maintain a tank like that would just be almost godlike. I admire him for the amount of skill and the time and dedication it took to get that tank the way it is.

I think we're actually agreeing here on the tank itself though...

I wonder what it takes to manage the chemical warefare in a tank with so many corals nearly touching eachother? A huge amount of GAC changed weekly, or really large % of water changes, maybe both?
