Angry GSM driving me crazy!!

i have a GSM pair.. female is over 6" and male is about 2.5".. beautiful pair, but the problem is i cannot add anything to the tank.. if i put it in it is getting tossed around like a ragdoll... i dont know what to do.. it is really frustrating.. i know others have this problem, i had a previous female that did the same thing.. what do you do to stop this?? i am at a loss, as i dont want to let the pair go, but it is really annoying.....

What size tank? Try adding something large, aggressive or that doesn't occupy the same swimming space (ie, bottom dweller).

Have you ever turned off the tank lights when introducing new corals?

I'd try removing the GSM's and leaving them in a QT or sump until you're done adding corals.

Rearrange your aquascape. It will change their perceived territory. You are introducing a foreign object to her home. They may be very close to spawning or have a nest already. GSM's don't like change. While you are moving rocks, you'll likely get bit... several times... it hurts. But you'll be able to add your new coral. Then, leave your tank alone and enjoy it. OR get different clowns.

Good idea. Rearranging the rockwork will change their territory and may cause them to forget some newly added corals.

LOL, welcome to the club! Mine pushed a path through the middle of the tank, and bulldozes everything. I'm slowly becoming a hairy mushroom only tank. She's about killed everything else. Since I bought her I guess I'm keeping her as long as she lives.

Mine hates anything I do to the tank and changes it right back to how it was. I have to glue all frags down. Even still she tries ripping them off and even charges head first if it won't budge. Her and my diamond goby do a good job of moving all the sand to the middle of the tank as well. Burying anything in the way. She was a rescue from a friend and faced certain death. Her mate jumped the day I introduced them to the tank. I already had a pair of true percs when they went in.

GSM is Gold Stripe Maroon. Try adding a 10" clay flowerpot.

oh gold stripe maroons. do not get rid of these fish. they will begin spawning when their aquarium is large enough, stress-free, good diet, and hood water quality, and if you add other fish tey will veiw it as a threat and get stressed and may not breed in a small aquarium. A good rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per 2 gallons.

Again, your advice is from a bokk and essentially worthless.

Whether a pair of GSM clowns view another fish as a thread greatly depeneds upon the type of fish, and even so, may not have any effect on a spawning pair.

And your "good rule of thumb" is almost as rediculous as the "1 inch per gallon rule" you were recommending in another thread.

So, I can have a 6" tang in my 12 gallon tank? Cool!
