I'm not too sure what the deal is with Clams Direct.
Everytime I go there the store is closed or site is down due to updates. My pick is Riptide, Billy has the right idea as to how to run a store front. Top notch stuff and has not been down or closed yet. I have attempted Clams direct on several occasions, I even sent a email asking what was up, reply was to "ready the message on the webpage". Ticked me off to say the least.

Barry recieves a shipment of clams every week, he then quarentines them to make sure they don't have PM (the destruction of many a pimp clam tank) , pyramids, gaping etc. On Friday he updates his website with the clams...and they are gone as soon as people get a look at them..which is why he is out of stock until the next friday. You can't blame him for selling them at a decent price and not being able to buy enough of them to keep them in stock. In other words his store is only worth visiting on friday when he updates and untill all the clams are gone at which point he shuts it down till the next Friday.
If everyone in the clam buying market wanted croceas and knew that riptides had them then they wouldn't have any in stock most of the time either
As it is, everybody wants wysiwyg blue maximas and Barry is one of the only places that has them under $150...or any price actually.

Cheers,

grimmjohn

I've ordered clams several times from Barry. Top notch operation! All the 12 or so clams I have purchased from him are all alive and growing, which is more than I can say for a couple I have gotten through my LFS's.
If you are serious about buying a clam, you do need to keep checking his site on the day he says it will be updated, because the nicest clams are usually sold within minutes!
